Buy a house in Girona - A Tourists Delight

Just one and half-hour drive from Barcelona, Girona is a lucrative spot for real estate investors in Spain and widely acknowledged as a paradise for many tourists visiting Spain. In the past the Gerona city has stood the test of time through attacks, invasions and various onslaughts and carved a unique place for itself.

This Spanish city was first conquered by the Romans followed by Moorish and it had Jewish population for six hundred years. Girona has retained the cultural influences of all its ancestors and has evolved itself into a modern progressive city. Founded by the Romans this walled city was the Roman fortress of Gerunda. The Roman presence manifests itself in the heart of the old city with a fascinating cathedral and many other monuments like Sant Feliu Church, Pere de Galligants Monastery. The Moorish bath and maze like narrow streets give evidence of Arabic past. The Jewish center adds to the diversity of city’s architectural character. Added to the beauty of the city is the river Onyar that flows east to west right through the city.

Girona is now a bustling modern city with an airport situated 13 km from the city. It also has international rail and bus stations, which connect it to the other parts of Spain and major cities of Europe. The lure of new residential and shopping complexes, restaurants, clubs and other city amenities make it more attractive to investors.

The delectable recipes like snail stew, grilled vegetables with romesco sauce, grilled chicken or rabbit make eating a pleasant experience. "Crema catalana" or apples in puff pastry are mouth-watering desserts. One can enjoy meals with red and white local wines.

The climate in Girona is mild. The average temperature touches 25ºC in summers and in 10ºC in winters. In July and Augustm it could rise, however, much above it, like in other parts of Europe.

The average property rates vary according to the location and the covered area. A single bedroom would cost around € 145,000, a 2 bedroom € 261,000, a 3 bedroom € 392, 550, a 4 bedroom € 561,737 and a 5 bedroom € 655,228. These figures depict average prices of urban apartments, villas, fincas etc. The actual average price of apartments would be lower than this figure whereas the price for a villa may be higher
